Delta to offer roomier seats through middleman

ATLANTA?? Delta Air Lines Inc. said Monday that it will begin selling its roomiest economy-class seats through a middleman, Amadeus, which provides information about flights and prices to travel agents.

Amadeus' global distribution system will offer Economy Comfort seats, which cost an extra fee for three or four inches of extra legroom.

Delta said the move showed that it was listening to corporate travel offices and travel agencies by making Economy Comfort more widely available.

The deal between Delta, the world's second-largest airline, and Amadeus comes a week after American Airlines announced that it would sell an extra-fee preferred-seating option on discount travel website Priceline.com.

Federal regulators are considering requiring airlines to provide information about fees to distribution systems.

Delta said it will work with Amadeus on other ways to tailor purchases for customers.
